# Published-package verification — 2026-10-25

> Recorded stable and RC archive checks and fresh package consumers.

This review checked the six published `0.1.0-rc.0` packages from
`3d563791052237d205c252a3a1fefef126a45940`. Downloaded archives matched the reviewed
bytes and registry integrity metadata. Stable `0.1.0` promoted the same library
implementation; package manifests and READMEs changed for stable installation.

The [RC0 prerelease](https://github.com/keshavkatwe/toolgrain/releases/tag/v0.1.0-rc.0)
and its [release verification](https://github.com/keshavkatwe/toolgrain/actions/runs/40128994353)
refer to the candidate commit. Stable `0.1.0` subsequently passed
[full supported verification](https://github.com/keshavkatwe/toolgrain/actions/runs/40168972464)
on `526ea39af39413d1ea2693b3961c127343b982e4`, followed by
[OIDC publication and registry/consumer checks](https://github.com/keshavkatwe/toolgrain/actions/runs/40169659323).
Both historical GitHub release records remain available.

## Method and results

The client review used installed npm packages outside the repository, Node
24.20.0 on macOS arm64, isolated client configuration, and deterministic local
API fixtures. Codex used its direct app-server tool-call API; Claude used a
loopback Messages API fixture. No paid inference, live OAuth login, or persistent
user configuration changes were involved. These checks do not establish
production-application or interactive GUI compatibility.

| Client/check | Passed | Total | Result |
| - | -: | -: | - |
| Inspector 2.11.0, modern/legacy/automatic discovery, stdio and HTTP | 30 | 30 | Pass |
| Codex CLI/app-server 0.163.0-alpha.10.2, default/modern/mixed, stdio/HTTP/protected HTTP | 93 | 102 | Nine cases reproduce the documented timeout limitation |
| Claude Code 2.1.191, stdio/HTTP/protected HTTP | 30 | 33 | Three cases reproduce the documented rich-result limitation |
| Claude Code 2.1.191 timeout controls | 3 | 3 | Pass |
| Direct stdio cancellation and HTTP disconnect controls, both protocol revisions | 4 | 4 | Pass |
| **Total** | **160** | **172** | **No new Toolgrain blocker in the checked flows** |

The 12 non-passing assertions reproduce the client limitations from the
[2026-10-22 interoperability review](https://toolgrain.mintlify.site/compatibility/clients.md). They are
recorded as limitations and are not counted as passing checks.

## Limitations and workarounds

1. **Codex direct-call timeout:** the tested client times out without promptly
aborting server work. Applications doing expensive work should impose their
own execution deadlines. Explicit stdio cancellation and HTTP disconnect
controls pass in both revisions; Toolgrain cancellation remains cooperative
   through `ctx.signal`.
2. **Claude rich-result rendering:** supplemental text is hidden when structured
content is supplied. Put essential narrative in structured content, or use
text-only content where the tool contract permits it. Both workarounds pass
   on all three tested transports.

Cursor execution/cancellation and GUI flows were unverified in this review. A
later [Cursor desktop follow-up](https://toolgrain.mintlify.site/compatibility/clients.md#cursor-desktop-follow-up)
checked execution and cancellation against published 0.1.2 packages, including
protected HTTP Stop and [CLI execution/modern negotiation](https://toolgrain.mintlify.site/compatibility/clients.md#additional-cursor-client-checks).
Modern Claude Code was also checked against 0.1.2 in the later
[v2 follow-up](https://toolgrain.mintlify.site/compatibility/clients.md#claude-code-v2-follow-up), including
interactive cancellation; live OAuth login remains unverified. HTTP scope is
independent POST requests with JSON responses.
Resources, prompts, elicitation, persistent sessions, streaming, progress,
resumability, and subscriptions remain outside this release.

The [compatibility guide](https://toolgrain.mintlify.site/compatibility/protocol.md) covers the earlier baseline and
reproduction commands. The [support policy](https://toolgrain.mintlify.site/project/support-policy.md) defines the
runtime/platform and declaration checks required for future releases. These
historical results do not establish compatibility for untested clients or waive
future supported regressions.
